Why are you participating?
Mother-Daughter Duo, Melinda and Jordan Kantor, are thrilled to have the honor of being BigWigs. Melinda and Jordan were left speechless this past October at the Susan G Komen Virginia Blue Ridge Pink Promise Luncheon, realizing just how many individuals they knew personally that are breast cancer survivors. Having built their business with the reputation of compassion and a sympathetic ear, Melinda and Jordan are anxious to raise money to help eradicate breast cancer.
In Melinda’s original career of radiologic technology, she witnessed the devastation of patients and friends who were diagnosed with cancer. The trauma of diagnosis was not only physical, but mental, emotional, and spiritual, affecting the patient and their loved ones. In 2004, Melinda switched careers and used her passion of helping others by opening Skin Care Consulting, Inc. She uses her education degree to help teach clients the importance of skin health. Her hunger for continuing education pushed her to train in permanent cosmetic tattooing. Melinda’s oldest daughter Jordan, graduated from VCU in 2015 with a BFA in Painting and Printmaking and joined her mother in business. While in college, Jordan felt an overwhelming desire to use her artistic talents on a living canvas to help others feel more confident in their own skin. This duo has traveled far and wide to receive training from the leading cosmetic tattooers in the world. Using her eye for detail, Jordan tattoos individual simulated hair strokes into the brow area to create a natural fuller looking eyebrow. Melinda focuses on permanent eyeliner. Starting in 2018, Skin Care Consulting will begin to offer 3D areola/scar camouflage tattooing for breast cancer survivors. This type of cosmetic tattoo is the last step in a woman’s journey in breast reconstruction for those faced with having a mastectomy. It is truly the icing on the cake...
