Why are you participating?
Mark has been with Member One Federal Credit Union for 23 years and serves as Senior Vice President and Market Executive. He is so excited to be participating in this year's Komen Big Wigs campaign as it’s his passion to serve the community and help the needs of his neighbors. He feels very blessed to live in a community where everyone puts the needs of their neighbors first. Unfortunately 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and breast cancer is the number one cancer among women and the number two most common cancer. I know with your help, we can change these statistics and raise awareness while all the while helping our neighbors.
Mark’s current commitments include serving on the board of directors for the YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge as Vice Chair and Public Policy Chair, Gainsboro YMCA Board of Directors, and Co-Chair for the Cure by Design American Cancer Society. He also serves on the Rocky Mount Rotary Club as Past President, Roanoke Business Council, iCan Shine Bike Camp, Ferrum College Business Advisory Board, Taubman Museum of Art Golf Committee, Virginia Credit Union League Governmental Affairs Committee, and National Association of Federal Credit Unions Legislative Committee.
Some of his previous commitments include serving as Co-Chair for the Heart Association Heart Ball, Children’s Miracle Network Gala Committee Member, Franklin County Chamber of Commerce as Past President, and Roanoke Symphony Orchestra Development Committee.
Joanna is the co-owner and managing partner of Haywood’s Jewelers at Smith Mountain Lake. Her passion is serving her community and helping to make it a happier, healthier place. Her recent community commitments have included: Rocky Mount Rotary Club, Smith Mountain Lake Lions Club, Making Foundation Board of Directors, Lake Christian Ministries Board of Directors, American Cancer Society-Cure By Design, Children’s Miracle Network-Heels for Healing, American Heart Association-Heart Ball and the Smith Mountain Lake Lions Scholarship Trust Board of Directors. She is very excited and honored to be part of the “Big Wig” campaign. What an opportunity this is to raise awareness in a fun way in order to raise money for a very worthy cause and a chance to save lives. Joanna hopes that her friends, family and community members will join in a support her fundraising efforts.
