Why are you participating?
Twin brothers Ramon and Damon Williams are former Division I basketball standouts and Hall of Famers at The Virginia Military Institute and William Fleming High School.
Their love of basketball and the values they embraced as players have led them to enjoy successful and fulfilling careers. Damon works in the banking industry as a community development officer and remains active in the sports community as an NCAA Men's Basketball official. For much of his career, Ramon served as a basketball coach in the ACC, Big East, Atlantic 10 and the Southern Conference. The leadership skills and deep understanding of interpersonal relationships made him an ideal candidate for his current career as a development officer at his alma mater.
The twins are prominent and active members of Roanoke Valley
communities and have partnered with individuals locally and across the state to
provide opportunities for youth in Virginia. Ramon and Damon help run and serve
on boards of numerous local and charitable organizations including the Carilion
Medical Center, the Boys Home of Virginia, VA Cares, Inc., Virginia Amateur
Sports, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of SWVA. In recognition of their selfless
commitment to their community, the late Mayor Noel C. Taylor honored the twins
with “the key to the city” of Roanoke.
They are participating in the BigWig campaign because they've had close friends and relatives who have had breast cancer and they want to help raise awareness and help find a cure.
