This year, I registered for the Komen Race for the Cure in honor of my mother. My mother was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Mammary Carcinoma five days before Christmas 2017. This is a low grade, slow growing cancerous tumor that does not respond to chemotherapy. According to the doctor's at Vanderbilt she's had this cancer for years but because it was in a denser area of her breast it wasn't picked up on during her yearly mammograms. My mother had a double mastectomy performed in February 2018, and during the procedure they found another cancerous tumor in the same breast. Since then she has had multiple reconstruction surgeries and continues to take Letrozole daily to try and prevent the cancer from spreading.
Cancer sucks. Period. Help fight to put an end to this terrible disease that is taking the lives of so many. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to my run in honor of my mother, the greatest woman I have ever known.
