This year, I registered to walk 15 miles in one day for Komen on the Creeper on October 26, 2019 because I wanted to take action and be More Than Pink™. Unfortunately, I've ended up with a sinus infection and laryngitis for the last nine days so I will probably not get to walk but Mark plans to participate. Since he's not a Facebook person I told him I would make an appeal for him on my page. Komen on the Creeper is the most recent effort by our local Susan G. Komen Affiliate—Komen Virginia Blue Ridge, to rally people together from across Southwest Virginia to join the fight against breast cancer in our community and beyond. We want to make an impact in our continued fight against breast cancer and we need your help! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of oue fundraising efforts.
Seventy-five percent of the money raised through Komen on the Creeper stays in the community to fund local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. The remaining 25 percent supports groundbreaking breast cancer research that is making strides in preventing, detecting, treating and curing the disease. Since 2008, the Affiliate has funded more than $3.9 million in local services and innovative breast cancer research to save more lives in southwest Virginia.
More than 41,000 women in the US will die of breast cancer in 2019. This is unacceptable. That is why we've joined in Komen’s mission of ending this disease in our community. Together, we are fueling the best science, boldest community and biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer. And we will not stop until this disease is gone forever. That's our promise. Will you please join us in this fight by helping us reach $500.
